Workshop Recap: I Sold My Company!
On Tuesday May 13th, participants gathered for an inspiring and practical workshop led by Kadesha Smith, founder and former CEO of CareContent, Inc. In her session, Position Your Business for Acquisition, Kadesha shared her journey of bootstrapping and scaling her digital healthcare marketing agency—culminating in a successful cash acquisition in March 2024.
Through personal insights and hard-earned lessons, Kadesha emphasized that building a business worth acquiring is no different than building a profitable, sustainable business. From aligning your financial structures to knowing when to step back from day-to-day tasks, attendees walked away with tools to start preparing for long-term success—now.
Kadesha’s unique blend of strategic insight, spiritual grounding, and lived entrepreneurial experience made this a powerful and memorable session for all in attendance.
Attendee Takeaways
Don’t play the instruments—conduct the orchestra. As one attendee put it, “The eventual goal should be to lead the company like a conductor—managing the team without playing every role.”
You are not your employees’ provider. The Lord is. "This reminder reframed the emotional weight many founders carry."
"Great workshop! Even though I’m not in the position to be acquired now, Kadesha gave me so much to think about for the immediate future."
"I thoroughly enjoyed Kadesha’s session on preparing for acquisition. One of the key takeaways for me was to never go into debt to grow your business, rather leverage your revenue to pay the bills and pay employees. Be willing to grow slower debt-free than to grow quickly with debt hanging over your head. I also learned the power of less - less meetings + more time working independently = more productivity. Teamwork doesn’t always make the dream work. Kadesha’s passion to grow her company according to God’s plan for her is inspiring, to say the least!"
