Pitch Black Student Pitch Competition

BRITNEY ROBBINS of Gray Matter Experience led the second annual Pitch Black student pitch competition with over $45,000 awarded in cash and business support services.

Sat, May 19, Britney Robbins, Founder of Gray Matter Experience, hosted their 2nd Annual Pitch Black student pitch competition. 

Six student groups presented for a chance to win a portion of $20,000 in seed funding and additional prizes for their business while gaining invaluable feedback from a distinguished panel of judges to implement before launching. The top 3 teams walked away with over $45k in cash and business support services and every student received a $1k stipend to be used towards a college scholarship, paid internship with a startup or pooled together to be used as seed funding toward their business launch.

1st place went to Food for Thought Aquaponics - an urban agriculture company using aquaponics to provide healthy lifestyle education and a mobile grocery store to underserved communities. 2nd place went to KGO (Kids Go Out), a teen event company providing a safe space for teens to convene. 3rd place was awarded to Chicago Based, a teen business directory creating a one stop shop for students to showcase their talents to a new market of customers.

Britney will be working with students this summer to help them get their businesses launched. GME launched 2 teen businesses last summer from their first Cohort of students.
