Kevin Banks Jr., a proud West Side Chicago native and member of the Entrenuity Accelerator Cohort, is living proof it’s possible. A trained biomedical engineer and Milwaukee School of Engineering graduate, Kevin funded his own college journey through scholarships. Now, through his company, Just The Right Amount (JTRA), a scholarship coaching and consulting firm, he's helping other college-bound students follow in his footsteps.
The idea for JRTA was born during an entrepreneurship class in undergrad. Kevin turned a class project into a purpose-driven business after realizing how few students truly understood how to access scholarship funding. His work now supports students across the country through direct coaching, community programs, and hands-on training.
Since founding JTRA in 2018, he has helped students earn over $1 million in non-institutional scholarships, with a focus on empowering black and brown students to leverage their academic and extracurricular strengths.
